Man punches woman in the face at Deer Park
A man punched a woman in the face after she rebuffed his attempt to dance with her, police said.
The incident happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Deer Park Tavern, 108 W. Main St., according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
The victim was dancing on the second floor of the bar when the man approached and attempted to dance with her. She told him she didn’t want to dance with him, and he walked away.
A few minutes later, he approached the victim again and put his hand on her shoulder, Rubin said. She pushed his hand away, and he punched her in the face.
A fight ensued, and bouncers broke up the fracas.
The woman was not injured, Rubin said.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man with a large build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and a baseball hat.
