108 W. Main St. Kristen Visbal, the Delaware artist who created the “Fearless Girl” statue, will be the guest of honor at the 5K run/walk. A larger-than-life Fearless Girl “wonder wall” will be located at the post-race gathering for everyone to sign and inscribe with their own fearless message. An art station will be set up at the post-race gathering with Fearless Girl coloring pages and a sidewalk chalk area. Newark Senior Center, 200 Whitechapel Drive. The three candidates running for the District 5 city council seat will participate in a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters. District 3 candidate forum: Tuesday, 7 p.m., at
Newark Senior Center, 200 Whitechapel Drive. The two candidates running for the District 3 city council seat will participate in a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Planning commission meeting: Tuesday, 7 p.m., at
city hall, 220 S. Main St. The planning commission will consider a proposal to build a car rental business at 1365 Marrows Road, currently a vacant lot next to the KFC. It will also vote on a request to annex two properties in Covered Bridge Farms to allow access to city sewer. The History of Herman’s: Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the
Newark Senior Center, 200 Whitechapel Drive. The Newark Historical Society’s annual meeting will feature guest speaker Christine Herman, owner of Herman’s Quality Meats, who will talk about the business’ long histor y in Newark. Free and open to the public.
