Ne­wark man charged in armed rob­bery of phar­macy

A Ne­wark man is in cus­tody af­ter al­legedly rob­bing a phar­macy in the Four Sea­sons shop­ping cen­ter near Glas­gow.

Charles E. Ndikum, 19, was charged with first-de­gree rob­bery and com­mit­ted to the Howard R. Young Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion in lieu of $20,000 se­cured bond.

The rob­bery hap­pened

just be­fore 10 p.m. March 17 at the Wal­greens lo­cated at 500 Plaza Drive, ac­cord­ing to Master

Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, a spokes­woman for Delaware State Po­lice.

Po­lice al­lege Ndikum en­tered the store just be­fore clos­ing time and acted like he was mak­ing a pur­chase.

When the clerk opened the cash reg­is­ter, Ndikum pulled out a hand­gun and de­manded money, Jaffe said.

The clerk com­plied, and Ndikum fled with an undis­closed amount of cash. No one was in­jured.

De­tec­tives iden­ti­fied Ndikum as a sus­pect though un­spec­i­fied “in­ves­tiga­tive mea­sures” and ar­rested him with­out in­ci­dent March 23 in his dorm room at Wes­ley Col­lege in Dover, Jaffe said.
