Newark man charged in armed robbery of pharmacy
A Newark man is in custody after allegedly robbing a pharmacy in the Four Seasons shopping center near Glasgow.
Charles E. Ndikum, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $20,000 secured bond.
The robbery happened
just before 10 p.m. March 17 at the Walgreens located at 500 Plaza Drive, according to Master
Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, a spokeswoman for Delaware State Police.
Police allege Ndikum entered the store just before closing time and acted like he was making a purchase.
When the clerk opened the cash register, Ndikum pulled out a handgun and demanded money, Jaffe said.
The clerk complied, and Ndikum fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.
Detectives identified Ndikum as a suspect though unspecified “investigative measures” and arrested him without incident March 23 in his dorm room at Wesley College in Dover, Jaffe said.
