Newark man charged with third DUI
A Newark man is facing his third DUI charge after being pulled over early Sunday morning.
At around 1:19 a.m., an officer on patrol on Delaware
Avenue saw a vehicle driving without headlights and weaving on the road. The officer pulled over the vehicle near the intersection of Academy Street, according to Lt. Fred Nelson, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
The driver, Austin T. Roberts, 26, showed signs of impairment, Nelson said. He has two prior arrests for DUI and his license is suspended.
Roberts was charged with third-offense DUI, driving with a suspended license, failure to have insurance in possession and other traffic offenses.
He released after posting $2,700 secured bond.
