Newark man charged with third DUI

A Newark man is fac­ing his third DUI charge af­ter be­ing pulled over early Sun­day morn­ing.

At around 1:19 a.m., an of­fi­cer on pa­trol on Delaware

Av­enue saw a ve­hi­cle driv­ing with­out head­lights and weav­ing on the road. The of­fi­cer pulled over the ve­hi­cle near the in­ter­sec­tion of Academy Street, ac­cord­ing to Lt. Fred Nel­son, a spokesman for the Newark Po­lice De­part­ment.

The driver, Austin T. Roberts, 26, showed signs of im­pair­ment, Nel­son said. He has two prior ar­rests for DUI and his li­cense is sus­pended.

Roberts was charged with third-of­fense DUI, driv­ing with a sus­pended li­cense, fail­ure to have in­surance in pos­ses­sion and other traf­fic of­fenses.

He re­leased af­ter post­ing $2,700 se­cured bond.
