Na­tional Night Out unites cops, com­mu­nity mem­bers

Ne­wark­ers got a chance to in­ter­act with first re­spon­ders Tues­day night as part of the an­nual Na­tional Night Out event on Acad­emy Street. Ne­wark and Univer­sity of Delaware po­lice of­fi­cers, as well as fire­fight­ers from Aetna Hose, Hook and Lad­der Com­pany, demon­strated their skills and let at­ten­dees try out the equip­ment they use. The event also in­cluded free food, mu­sic, face paint­ing, a magic show and a demon­stra­tion by a Delaware State Po­lice K-9.
