Newark Post - - FRONT PAGE -

Police are searching for a driver who fled after striking a pedestrian near the Newark Library on Monday night.

The crash happened at 9:21 p.m. near the intersection of Library Avenue and Ogletown Road, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark

Police Department.

The pedestrian, a Newark man in his 40s, was crossing the southbound lanes of Library Avenue just south of the intersection when he was struck by a pick-up truck.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition with a skull fracture and an injury to his lower leg.

Police are not sure

whether he was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The red pick-up truck, possibly a Ford, fled south on Library Avenue. The truck may have damage on the front right side, Rubin said. No description of the driver was available.
