Fatal ac­ci­dent

David Alan Shel­ley, 52, of Jami­son, died the evening of Aug. 19 as a re­sult of in­juries re­ceived in an ac­ci­dent the pre­vi­ous day, Hill­town Town­ship Po­lice Depart­ment said.

The ac­ci­dent hap­pened about 8:25 a.m. Aug. 18 when a 16-year-old driver on Limekiln Pike (Route 152) north of Town­ship Line Road be­came dis­tracted by a check engine light and drove off the road, po­lice said. The driver was able to pull the 2006 Honda Odyssey back onto the road, but af­ter hit­ting the cen­ter line rum­ble strips, veered back off the road and hit a tree with the right side of the ve­hi­cle, po­lice said.

Shel­ley, a pas­sen­ger in the VHKLFOH, ZDV flRZQ EY 3HQQS­tar Med­i­cal He­li­copter to Tem­ple rniver­sity Hospi­tal, po­lice said.

The driver was not injured, po­lice said.

The crash is still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion, but no charg- HV DUH HXSHFWHG WR EH fiOHG against the driver, po­lice said.

New Bri­tain Town­ship po­lice, Hill­town Fire Com­pany, Chal­font Fire Com­pany and Chal-Brit Re­gional Am­bu­lance as­sisted at the scene, po­lice said. UQGHU WKH LQflUHQFH RI D FRQtrolled sub­stance af­ter Flannery was seen with in­op­er­a­ble tail lights on Bethlehem Pike and stopped on Orvilla Road about 1:54 a.m. July 8, Hill­town Town­ship Po­lice Depart­ment said.

Blood-al­co­hol con­tent test­ing showed a .185 per­cent level, po­lice said.
