Police arrest swimmers at East Rockhill quarry
It’s that time of year again. During the summer of 2006, Pennridge Regional Police Department ticketed 21 people in less than a wHHN IRr WrHVSDVVLQJ DIWHr fiQGLQJ the people swimming in the abandoned Hanson Quarry in East Rockhill.
Although the numbers may vary somewhat, there’s been a somewhat similar story each summer.
In July of this year, the department made a total of 35 summary arrests.
“The majority of those, if not all, were trespassing arrests over at the quarry in East Rockhill,” Chief of Police David Mettin said at the Aug. 22 Pennridge Regional Police Commission meeting.
Many of the trespassers aren’t from the local area, he said.
“They come from all over,” Mettin said. “It’s not local kids in the local watering hole. It’s kids from all over the place.”

It also takes a long walk to get to the quarry, he said.
“I don’t know what the attraction of that place is,” Mettin said.
