Rams rally past Souderton

,W’V gHWWLng WRugK WR finG new descriptio­ns of Pennridge running back Mike Class, but Rams coach Randy Cuthbert came up with a pretty interestin­g one.

“He’s like a cheetah and an elephant kind of rolled into one,” the coach said with a smile. “He can run around you when he wants and he can just bulldoze you when he wants.”

Class ran and bulldozed his way all over Poppy voder Field Friday night, as the junior racked up 278 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to lead Pennridge to a come-from-behind 45-35 win over Souderton Area in a Suburban One League Continenta­l Conference game.

The Rams had only four offensive plays in a pivotal third quarter, but two of those plays were longdistan­ce touchdown runs by Class. His 60-yard sprint put the Rams ahead 27-26, and after a 13-play drive by Souderton yielded a gR-DKHDG fiHOG gRDO Ey -HII Wolf, Class was right back in the end zone again, this time turning a toss left into a 71-yard score. He easily shook off an arm tackle and burst into the clear, opening up ground on the nearest defender.

“That felt good,” Class said of the pair of scores. “2n WKH firVW RnH, , MuVW rDn right up the middle, cut it back, gave the kid a stiff arm and it was off to the races. On the second one, I just took it around the end, saw the hole. I saw a kid coming, gave him a stiff arm, and it was off to the races again.”

The Rams have now raced to a 5-1 start, including a 2-0 mark in the conference as they head into a showdown with undefeated Central Bucks South (6-0, 3-0).

What made this victory unique for the Rams was that they were able to use the threat of Class and turn it into some big plays, mostly off the arm - and legs - of quarterbac­k Alex Krivda.

Krivda’s pair of 45-yard touchdown throws to Kyle Biggam helped Pennridge NHHS SDFH Ln D wLOG firVW KDOI, but it was his 74-yard touchdown run that may have been the most impressive.
