• DHGLFDWLRn FHUHPRnLHV for a fine arts gallery at Souderton Area High School featuring works of Walter E. Baum and H. Theodore Hallman will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 in the school auditorium.

The paintings have been part of the school’s art collection since the 1940s, but this is the first time the 14 paintings are permanentl­y displayed as a collection.

• “Stories from the Pearl S. Buck House: Lives Touched by the Legacy of Pearl S. Buck” is on display until Nov. 9 at the Pearl S. Buck House, 520 Dublin Road in Hilltown.

An excellent example of nineteenth century architectu­re, the house holds a rich intact museum collection of Pennsylvan­ia country furni- ture alongside Chines decorative screens, Chen Chi paintings and works by celebrated artists. A highlight of the tour for many visitors is the desk and typewriter Buck used to write “The Good Earth.”

Some of her awards, including the Nobel and Pulitzer prizes and honorary college degrees are also on display.

Guided tours are available Tuesdays through Saturdays at 11 a.m, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.,

and on Sundays at 1 and 2 p.m.
