Accidental shooting

A man accidentally shot himself in the upper abdomen while cleaning a handgun in his Reliance Court home about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 17, Hilltown Township Police Department said.

The man was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital and was out of surgery later in the day and expected to survive, police said.

No charges are being filed in the incident and the man’s name is not being released, police said. charged with misdemeanor retail theft after almost $50 of cosmetic items were taken from Giant Food Store in Hilltown Plaza Shopping Center on Route 113 about 2:07 p.m. Oct. 7, Hilltown Township Police Department said.

Votta has a previous retail theft conviction, police said.
