B&R now part of ABB
ABB Group has completed its takeover of Bernecker + Rainer Industrie-Elektronik Gesellschaft m.b.H. (B&R), which focuses on softwarebased, open-architecture solutions for machine and factory automation worldwide.
“With B&R now combined with ABB, we in ABB Printing will be able to provide you an unmatched, comprehensive industrial automation offering – globally and across the entire spectrum of technology and software solutions around measurement, control, actuation, robotics, electrification and digitalization,” said a press release from ABB.
B&R offers a broad spectrum of products in PLCs, Industrial PCs and servo motion as well as its software and solution suite for machine and factory automation that will be combined with ABB’s industrial automation offering, the release said.
A newly formed business unit – Machine & Factory Automation – will operate within ABB’s Industrial Automation division, headquartered in Eggelsberg, Austria, and led by B&R’s Managing Director Hans Wimmer. ABB’s PLC and Automation Builder activities are also part of the new business unit.
