Vir­ginia's Val­ley Ban­ner ceases pub­li­ca­tion

e Val­ley Ban­ner (Elk­ton, Vir­ginia) was to de­liver its last is­sue on June 7.

e news of Rock­ing­ham County, in­clud­ing the Town of Elk­ton, will go into the Daily News-Record in Har­rison­burg, the Val­ley Ban­ner re­ports.

In April, Vir­ginia-based Og­den News­pa­pers bought six news­pa­pers from Byrd News­pa­pers: the Daily News-Record, e Winch­ester Star, Page News and Courier, e Shenan­doah Val­leyHer­ald, e Warren Sen­tinel and e Val­ley Ban­ner.

"We are dou­bling down on our e orts for Rock­ing­ham county cov­er­age in the Daily News-Record,” said Cameron Wil­liams, re­gional pub­lisher. "It is an un­for­tu­nate re­al­ity that we can­not con­tinue to op­er­ate pub­li­ca­tions that don't have an au­di­ence ca­pa­ble of sup­port­ing them. We are com­mit­ted to mak­ing the Daily News-Record and Page News-Courier ex­cel­lent pub­li­ca­tions. We'll do that bet­ter and with more fo­cus now."

Ban­ner News sub­scribers can take ad­van­tage of spe­cial subscription o ers from the Daily News-Record and the Page News and Courier.

"It has been a plea­sure to work with the read­ers, town of cials and sta , school per­son­nel, coaches and busi­ness own­ers alike, to re­lay the sto­ries and pho­tos that make the greater Elk­ton com­mu­nity spe­cial," said Val­ley Ban­ner Ed­i­tor Travis Long.
