People ask for forgivenes­s for their sins at an annual Catholic Easter procession on March 25. The ceremony, which occurs during Holy Week in towns and villages throughout Spain, has long featured penitents wearing conical hats, or capirotes. Despite their resemblanc­e to the pointed hoods worn by the Ku Klux Klan in merica, the two outfits and the groups who wear them are entirely unrelated.
