Honoring Jackie

Boston Red Sox players wear the number 42 in recognition of Jackie Robinson Day on April 15 at the team’s home opener at Fenway Park. Major League Baseball commemorates Robinson, the Hall of Famer and first black MLB player, every year by having all players, coaches, and managers wear his number. This year is the 75th anniversary of Robinson’s debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
