Boats piled on top of each other after Hurricane Ian blew through the state with winds of 150 miles per hour and storm-surge flooding as high as 12 feet on September 29. More than 1.9 million people were without power and at least 14 people were initially reported to have died, though that number was expected to rise substantially. Fitch Ratings estimates Ian caused as much as $40 billion in damage.
