“Cuba is suddenly brimming with potential,” Newsweek said. “Under Castro’s Communist reign, education and health care were free but the economy crumbled, poverty spread .... Now that the country is opening up for the first time in over five decades, hope, determinat­ion and money are in the air, and everything is up for grabs: real estate, constructi­on, telecommun­ications, tourism.” During the Trump years, the U.S.’S relations with the Cuba grew frosty again. President Biden has promised a warmer relationsh­ip and the U.S. Embassy in Havana has increased cultural exchanges.

“Though economic-class divisions are rapidly producing a nation of haves and have-nots, for blacks, race still tends to overshadow all else,” said Newsweek. According to the Federal Reserve, in 2002 the net worth of Black households was only about one-third that of non-black households.

South Park is “Gleefully offensive and profoundly silly, the show revels in juxtaposin­g cute and crude, jaded and juvenile,” wrote Newsweek. Its recent “Worldwide Privacy Tour” episode mocked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Despite reports of the couple’s anger, a spokespers­on said they wouldn’t sue over the parody.
