AND THAT’S THE TRUTH - PFFFFT!

-

One of the cards sets that offered the most interactive versatility is Topps 1968 Laugh-In, with cards themed after the wacky TV comedy show of the hippy era. In addition to 33 standard color photo cards packed with gags modeled after the show, kids could play with 11 diecut Laugh-in Necklaces that feature catchphrases from the show, six finger puppets that mostly let your fingers do the walking, nine Door Cards that open with a joke, six cast member-laden Laugh-in Foldees, and 24 peel-off diecut stickers called Goldie’s Laugh-ons). Verrry Interesting!

Twenty years later Topps launched a set with a remarkably similar feel called Pee Wee’s Playhouse, modeled after the kid’s show that starred comedian Pee Wee Herman. This fun-filled set contained 33 Picture Cards (like Laugh-In), water-activated Tattoo Sheets, double-sided Sticker Cards, Wiggle Toys, and Activity Cards that contained things like masks, doors, flying things, and finger puppets. Mekka Lekka Hi-Mekka Hiney Ho, indeed.
