Exclusive Cards from New York Comic Con 2023 Experience

The pop culture event that is New York Comic Con was held this October 12th through the 15th at the Javits Center in the heart of Manhattan. There were offerings of vintage and modern cards at some vendor tables, with a highlight being exclusive cards that could only be obtained at the show.

Topps had two exclusive sets for Star Wars and Garbage Pail Kids. Both could be obtained by making an appointment to work in the Topps factory, which was set up at their booth. Collectors had to complete a series of challenges, including nding errors on an uncut sheet of Garbage Pail Kids and pulling designated cards off a makeshift assembly line. Once the tasks were complete collectors went to a vending machine and made a random selection to reveal what card pack they had earned.

The Garbage Pail Kids set consisted of ten cards so at least two ve-card packs were needed to complete the collection.

The Star Wars cards were also ve per pack with a complete set rounding out at fteen cards. Other non-sport offerings could be purchased at the Topps booth.

Vendor Toy Temple was selling an oversized Middle Earth dual autograph card signed by Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd. Card OS-DMBB was limited to 99 serial numbered cards and retailed for $150.
