Kutztown girls 4x800 relay takes 2nd at Firing Meet

Wilson teams build leads on opening day

The 75th William H. Firing Memorial Victory Meet turned into a twoday affair last weekend when inclement weather allowed only the running events to be completed.

The county track and field championsh­ips were set to be completed at Gov. Mifflin Monday with the field events and hurdles being competed.

Muhlenberg’s Najee Smith swept the boys’ sprints (100 and 200) while Wyomissing’s Joe Cullen repeated in the 800 and won the 1,600 meters.

In girls competitio­n, Alison Willingmyr­e regained the 1,600-meter title and Reagan Underwood won the 3,200 to send Wilson into first place.

Locally, Kutztown’s day was highlighte­d by the second-place finish of the 4x800 relay team of Madison Kistler, Robyn Hoch, Maria Marmarou and Rachael McCoach in 10:03.27, behind only Gov. Mifflin.

Other podium finishes for Kutztown featured Maria Marmarou in eighth in the 800, Robyn Hoch in sixth in the 1,600, and the 4x100 relay of Emily Bubbenmoye­r, Kelsey Yob, Skylar Miller and Kaitlin Kelly

placed eighth. The 4x400 relay of Rachael McCoach, Marmarou, Sarah Bubbenmoye­r and Marley Turbett came seventh.
