Berks County Dairy royalty crowned
Taylor Pool crowned Dairy Princess; Malaina Rhoads crowned Li’l Miss Dairy Princess
The 2017-2018 Berks County Dairy Princess is excited to go on a “Milk Adventure” promoting the Berks County Dairy Industry. Taylor Pool was crowned as the 2017-18 Berks County Dairy Princess on May 12 at the Mohrsville Church of the Brethren.
Helping Taylor promote the Berks County Dairy Industry this year will be Malaina Rhoads who was named the 2017-18 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess.
They will also be assisted by a group of Dairy Ambassadors. This year’s Berks County Dairy Ambassadors are Ayla Blatt, Mackenzie Blatt, Kennedi Cavalier, Mikayla Davis, Haley Evans, Natalie Grumbine, Samantha Haag, Kristin Johns, Megan Krick, Morgan Krick, Ashleigh Moss, Stephanie Younker and Lindsey Zimmerman.
Taylor is the 19-year-old daughter of David and Martha Pool, Robesonia. Taylor stays busy working on the family’s 250 registered Holstein and Jersey farm, and working at a local hair salon. She is a licensed cosmetologist and recently received her diploma in Massage Therapy.
Taylor has been active promoting the Berks County Dairy Industry as she served as the 20042005 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess and as a Dairy Ambassador for the past 6 years. She is also active with Berks County and the Pennsylvania Junior Holstein Clubs. She is currently the Vice President on the Pennsylvania Junior Holstein Executive Committee. Taylor enjoys competing in public speaking and dairy knowledge competitions in addition to showing her registered dairy cattle.
As part of the evening banquet, Taylor performed her skit entitled “My Milk Adventure” where she is an Oreo cookie looking for her glass of milk.
She also answered an impromptu question and talked to the audience about why she wants to be the Berks County Dairy Princess. Taylor said, “I am very blessed and excited to be serving as the 2017-18 Berks County Dairy Princess.
This is something I have wanted since I was little.” She is excited to educate the public about the dairy industry and thanks her family for always supporting her.
Also, performing at the pageant were 6 young ladies who were competing for the title of Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess. They were Heidi Eisenhower, 6, and Julie Eisenhower, 4, daughters of Scott and Vicki Eisenhower of Bethel; Malaina Rhoads, 5, daughter of Darren and Sandy Rhoads of Barto; Sarah Riegel, 4, daughter of Steve and Ann Riegel of Bethel; Allyson Templin, 6, daughter of Christopher and Amy Templin of Birdsboro; and Kyra Troutman, 6, daughter of Luke and Lori Troutman of Womelsdorf. The judges had a tough decision as the young ladies did a wonderful job of entertaining the audiences. In the end, Malaina was named as the 201718 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess.

The Berks County Dairy Princess Promotion Committee would like to thank Brittany Haag, 2016-17 Berks County Dairy Princess and Pennsylvania Alternate Dairy Princess; Samantha Haag, 2016-17 Berks County Alternate Dairy Princess; and Chloe Shealer, 2016-17 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess on a wonderful job of promoting and representing the Berks County Dairy Industry this past year.
They spent countless hours at local events from stores to farms, parades and schools and many other places in between talking to the public about the importance of dairy products in your diet as well as how important the dairy farms are here in Berks County.
Emcee for the pageant was Jennifer Grimes a former Berks County and Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess. Judges were Tammie Dunn, dairy farmer from New Ringgold and John Caroff, President of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
