2-vehicle collision leads to fire

Bystanders helped driver out of vehicle, EMS treated her for non-life threatenin­g injuries

Fleetwood Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with a fire at Crisscross Road and Lenhart Road in Richmond Township at 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 7.

Fleetwood Police report that Doug Sanders, Kutztown, was driving westbound on Crisscross Road, when he stopped at stop sign. Thinking there was a three-way stop, he proceeded to turn left onto Lenhart Road into the path of a vehicle driven by Susan Jones, Topton, who was driving eastbound on Crisscross Road.

According to police, both airbags deployed in the vehicle driven by Jones. There was a fire inside her passenger compartmen­t. Bystanders were able to get Jones out of the vehicle.

EMS attended Jones with non-life threatenin­g injuries and transporte­d her to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.

Police were assisted on scene by Fleetwood Fire and Fire Police, Walnuttown Fire and Life Lion EMS.
