Jean-Baptiste’s 39 points give Kutztown OT win
The Kutztown boys basketball team scored arguably its biggest win of the season on Jan. 6 with an 85-73 overtime victory over non-league Kennett.
Lorencz Jean-Baptiste scored nine of his game-high 39 points in the overtime period which saw the Cougars outscore their Chester County opponent 21-9 in the frame.
Kutztown improved to 8-1 on the year.
Brayden Eck chipped in 25 points, Matthew Angstadt added 11 while Jean-Baptiste was 16-for19 from the free-throw line.
Kennett rallied from 31-17 down at halftime to force overtime but Kutztown came through in the clutch. KUTZTOWN 73, TULPEHOCKEN 35 » The Cougars’ domination of the second and third quarters on Jan. 2 resulted in a romp over Tulpehocken.
Brady Tucker’s game-high 21 points were key to the Cougars (2-0 Berks Conference, 7-1 overall) padding the 15-point halftime lead they held on the Trojans (1-1, 2-7). They outscored Tulpehocken by a 43-14 margin in the middle frames.
Tucker was one of three Kutztown players to score in double figures, joined by Lorencz Jean-Baptiste (12 points) and Dane Fegely (l0). Mark Stokes scored a team-best 18 for Tulpehocken, which trailed by 15 at halftime.

TULPEHOCKEN 49, KUTZTOWN 38 » Jordan Boyer scored 14 points and Cassondra Mellen had 11 points and 17 rebounds, Tuesday, helping the Trojans (2-0, 6-2) defeat the Cougars (1-1, 4-5) in a Berks Conference Division III matchup.
