Cougars boys basketball runs win streak to 14

KUTZTOWN 67, OLEY VALLEY 44 » At Oley Jan. 15, Lorencz Jean-Baptiste scored 18 points and Owen Fenerty had a career-high 10 to lead the Cougars over the Lynx for their 12th straight victory.

Nicholas Repko tallied 12 points to lead Oley Valley.

At Kutztown Jan. 18, Berks scoring leader Lorencz Jean-Baptiste put on a show, hitting 11-of-12 shots from the field to lead the streaking Cougars to a 62-33 Berks Conference Division III victory over Schuylkill Valley.

Jean-Baptiste finished with 24 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Brayden Eck had eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Cougars, who have won 13 straight.

The Panthers (2-3, 5-8) got eight points each from Malachi Kauffman and Andre Rivera.

KUTZTOWN 69, PANTHER VALLEY 55 » At Kutztown Jan. 20, Lorencz Jean-Baptiste and Brayden Eck each scored 17 points to lead the Cougars over the Black Panthers.

Matt Angstadt scored 14, Dane Fegely had 11, and Owen Fenerty added 10 as Kutztown had five players score in double figures.

The Cougars are now 14-1 (6-0 Berks III) and winners of 14 in a row. They are ranked No. 1 in the District 3 Class 3A power rankings.

Girls basketball

OLEY VALLEY 41, KUTZTOWN 39 » At Kutztown Jan. 15, Lindsay Williamson hit the nets for a game-high 20 points to edge the Lynx past the Cougars in their Berks Conference matchup.

Kutztown’s Maria Marmarou shared game scoring honors with Williamson, also getting 20. Rachael McCoach kicked in with another 12 for the Cougars.

WYOMISSING 61, KUTZTOWN 16 » At Wyomissing Jan. 19, Leah McAvoy scored 20 points and had 16 rebounds, Myra Owens added 18 points to go along with her 17 boards as the Spartans beat the Cougars.

For Kutztown, Gretta Bankes scored a team-high eight points.

STEEL-HIGH 71, KUTZTOWN 36 » At Kutztown Jan. 20, the Rollers got off to a fast start and ran away from the Cougars to pick up the non-league win.

Gretta Bankes scored 13 points to lead Kutztown.

KUTZTOWN 33, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 30 » At Leesport Jan 20, the Cougars scored two falls to defeat the Panthers (0-4, 2-15).

Tyler Fisher and Jake Sharadin had the pins for Kutztown.
