Three men have been taken into police custody and charged after a man was restrained with duct tape and physically assaulted in his apartment on Jan. 24.

State Police at Reading report that on Jan. 24 at about 9:36 p.m., State Police Reading Troopers were dispatched to the Edge Apartments in Maxatawny Township, for a reported disturbance.

“A resident reported hearing loud screams, doors slamming, and threats of a person being tied up in the apartment below. Upon the Trooper’s arrival, they determined no one was inside the apartment in question while searching for a

potentially injured person. Preliminary investigation showed a struggle had ensued within a specific bedroom,” according to the State Police report.

Throughout the investigation, State Police Troopers learned that three men; Jacob Angstadt, 20, of Kutztown; James Corbin, 19, of Nottinghan, Pa., and Joseph Ondo, 20, of Milford, gained entry into the apartment.

State Police report that Angstadt, Corbin and Ondo forcibly bound the resident by his hands and feet with duct tape and then physically assaulted the victim while restrained. Angstadt, Corbin and Ondo are reported to have stolen several electronics from the apartment and then fled the scene.

The victim was left bound in the room but he was able to free himself and fled the residence.

Angstadt, Corbin and Ondo have been apprehended as of Jan. 25. They have been charged with burglary, simple assault, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, and theft by unlawful taking.
