Wyomissing tops Kutztown in OT on Jan. 24

KUTZTOWN 60, TULPEHOCKE­N 36 » At New Schaeffers­town Jan. 23, Lorencz Jean-Baptiste scored 22 points to lead the Cougars over the Trojans in Berks Conference action.

Kutztown led 21-6 after one quarter and stayed in front the rest of way en route to its 15th straight win. Ivan Fegley scored 13 points and Brayden Eck scored 10 for Kutztown.

Angel Mathias scored 11 points for Tulpehocke­n.

WYOMISSING 54, KUTZTOWN 47 » At Wyomissing Jan. 24, Dom Wise scored 12 of the Spartans’ 13 points in overtime and 20 of his game-high 26 in the second half to help Wyomissing (6-10) hand Kutztown (152) just its second loss of the season.

De’Shaun Wilson and Wise guarded Kutztown’s Lorencz JeanBaptis­te, limiting the standout to two field goals. Jean-Baptiste did finish with 15 points, going 11-for11 from the foul line.

Kutztown led 32-26 entering the fourth quarter. Wyomissing took the lead before Brayden Eck (teamhigh 18 points) scored with 1:15 left in regulation to tie it.

The Spartans held for the final shot, but failed to convert. Wise, who tied a career-high with his 26 points, went 7-for-8 from the line in overtime and finished with 15 rebounds.

Jevin Tranquillo had 10 points for Wyomissing. KUTZTOWN 81, OLEY VALLEY 41 » At Kutztown Jan. 26, Lorencz JeanBaptis­te scored 30 points and Brayden Eck added 19 points and 13 rebounds as the Cougars (8-0, 16-2) raced to a 41-18 halftime lead on their way to beating the Lynx in Berks Conference play..

Ryan Moyer had 12 points and Josh Daniels added 10 to lead Oley.

Girls basketball

TULPEHOCKE­N 39, KUTZTOWN 35 » At Kutztown Jan. 23, Jenna Phillippe scored 14 points, including going 6-for-6 from the foul line, as the Trojans edged the Cougars in their Berks Conference game.

Ava Ahner pulled down a careerhigh 16 rebounds for Tulpehocke­n. Rachael McCoach scored 13 points to lead Kutztown.

OLEY VALLEY 49, KUTZTOWN 34 » At Oley Jan. 25, Lindsey Williamson scored 23 points and Tessa Freed had eight points and 14 rebounds to help the Lynx knock off the Cougars (1-7, 4-14) in Berks Conference play.

Rachael McCoach had 12 points for Kutztown.

CONRAD WEISER 69, KUTZTOWN 10 » At Robesonia, five wrestlers scored falls in the Scouts’ win over the Cougars.

Jake Sharadin scored a fall for Kutztown at 113, and Tyler Fisher added a major decision at 170.
