KUTZTOWN 2, ANTIETAM 0 » At Kutztown April 5, Justin Renninger struck out 15 and had an RBI double as the Cougars shut out the Mounts in their Berks Conference game.

Renninger allowed just two singles and one walk in the complete game for Kutztown, which scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning. Payton Spiers threw a five-hitter for Antietam, striking out five and walking two and having one of the Mounts’ two hits. SCHUYLKILL HAVEN 11, KUTZTOWN 8 » At Kutztown April 7, the Hurricanes took advantage of 14 walks and used an eight-run fourth inning to beat the Cougars (2-2) in non-league action.

KUTZTOWN 10, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 0 » At Kutztown April 5, Kylie Balthaser hit a three-run home run and scored twice as the Cougars shut out the Hurricanes in five innings.

Jill Siefert doubled twice, scored once and drove in two runs for Kutztown, Kayla Fritz went 2-for-2 and scored two runs and winning pitcher Kate Calkins doubled. DANIEL BOONE 5, KUTZTOWN 1 » At Birdsboro April 6, Sydney Hayes drove in two runs for the Blazers in a win over the Cougars (2-1).

Kylie Balthaser had two hits for Kutztown.

Boys tennis

KUTZTOWN 5, TULPEHOCKE­N 2 » At New Schaeffers­town April 5, Nick Weber and Thomas Seifert figuired in on three of the Cougars’ points in their Berks Conference victory over Tulpehocke­n.

Weber won over Sean Pacilio at first singles 6-0, 6-1 while Seifert took his secondsing­les match with Matt Boyer 6-4, 6-3. They later teamed up at first doubles to prevail over Tulpehocke­n’s Pacilio and Jonah Mathias 6-4, 6-1.

KUTZTOWN 4, FLEETWOOD 3 » At Fleetwood April 7, Jacob Heffner, Paul Ache and Steven Reiss won at singles to help the Cougars edge the Tigers in their Berks Conference match.

Kutztown’s other point came from Ache and Owen Kulp at second doubles, where they handled Fleetwood’s Matt Dybowski and Lucas Strange 6-2, 6-1.

Boys track

FLEETWOOD 95, KUTZTOWN 54 » At Fleetwood April 6, Owen Fenerty and Ivan Fegeley each won pairs of individual events to emerge as the bright spots for the Cougars in a Berks Conference loss to the Tigers.

Fenerty was fast in the sprints, winning the 100 (11.57) and 200 (24.28) in addition to running a leg of Kutztown’s first-place 4x100 relay (45.48). Fegeley got his firsts in the field, wining the triple jump (41-0 1/4) and the high jump (6-1).

KUTZTOWN 74, FLEETWOOD 70 » At Fleetwood April 6, Marley Turbett swept the hurdling events to help the Cougars edge the Tigers in their Berks Conference meet.

Turbett won the 100 lows in 17.29 and the 300 intermedia­tes in 54.02. 100 and 300 hurdles,

Boys volleyball

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3, KUTZTOWN 1 » At Topton April 3, the Bullets rebounded from a first-set (22-25) loss to the Cougars to prevail in their Berks Conference match. BH took the next three by scores of , 25-11, 2518 and 25-21.

Jimmy Ludwig had 16 kills, two blocks and two aces and Matt Staurowsky had 16 assists, four aces and two digs to lead the Bullets. For Kutztown, Dane Fegley had five kills and Austin Lubak had 12 assists.

BERKS CATHOLIC 3, KUTZTOWN 0 » At Kutztown April 5, the Cougars were swept by the Saints in their Berks Conference match. BC won by set scores of 25-6, 27-25 and 25-12.

Jack Hagelbarge­r had 28 assists for the Saints. Matt Hagelbarge­r had 13 kills and Colin Balash had 20 digs for Berks Catholic. For Kutztown, Nate Ransom had three blocks.
