Fleetwood Bank presented Community Impact Award
Bank recognized for involvement in Shoemakersville community
The Pennsylvania Association of Community Banks holds banks that go above and beyond to ‘grow their community’ in the highest standing. They recognize those banks whose involvement in their towns exceeds normal business practice. The “Grow Your Community Award” program was established to honor those who strive to impact their community in meaningful ways.
Fleetwood Bank is excited to be a recipient of the PACB “Grow Your Community – 2017 Community Impact Award”!
In December 2009, Fleetwood Bank opened the doors to the Shoemakersville community, welcoming everyone to the new office and kicking off the holiday season with a tree lighting event. This marked the start of a tradition. The event is held on the first Friday in December, and is a partnership with many local community members. Local businesses donate a bounty of food items; a local landscaper helps decorate and string the lights on the outdoor evergreen, the Shoemakersville Recreation Board helps promote the event and the Shoemakersville Fire Company delivers Santa on a fire truck. In addition to these community groups, the event has entertainment by local school groups and church choirs. Santa arrives and spends a few hours taking pictures with children of all ages, and closes out the evening by helping to ‘light the Christmas tree’ as everyone gathers around singing “Oh Christmas Tree”.
The event has grown throughout the years, bringing different members of the community and organizations together all for one reason – COMMUNITY. Being the only remaining community bank in Berks County, Fleetwood Bank takes pride in being able to continue these traditions and strengthen the connections with their customers and communities they serve.
