Kutztown Fire Marshal Robert L. Hauck ruled an April 6 fire as electrical in nature after conducting an investigation at a home at 314 Highland Avenue in Kutztown.

Hauck reported that Joseph Grasso, who resides at that residence, called in the fire at 10:20 a.m. First on scene was Kutztown Assistant Fire Marshal George Kusterer who reported

a working basement fire.

The 1st alarm assignment brought fire crews in from Kutztown, Lyons, Topton, Fleetwood and Walnuttown fire companies as well as Macungie Rehab Unit and Kutztown Area Transportation Medical unit 590

“Fire personnel did an aggressive attack on the fire to keep it from spreading to the entire basement and into the first floor rooms,” said Hauck.

There were no injuries reported.

The residents are displaced until all repairs can be made. Estimated repairs would be more than $100,000, according to Hauck.
