Kutztown softball works overtime for wins over Brandywine Heights, Hamburg

Kutztown Softball

KUTZTOWN 8, BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 7 >> At Kutztown April 16, Caitlyn Lubak hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Cougars over the Bullets in a see-saw game.

KUTZTOWN 18, ANTIETAM 0 >> At Stony Creek April 17, Brianna Stauffer and Kaela Fritz each went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI as the Cougars defeated the Mounts.

KUTZTOWN 4, HAMBURG 3 >> At Kutztown April 18, winning pitcher Olivia Kardohely had a double and a home run with a run scored and two RBI to lead the Cougars (10-2) past the Hawks (6-6) in eight innings.

Erica Dietrich hit the game-winner and also had a home run.

Baseball

KUTZTOWN 17, ANTIETAM 2 >> At Kutztown April 17, Trevor Leveringto­n went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Dylan Moyer went 1-for-2 with two RBI and Connor O’Neil had a two-run triple to lead the Cougars past the Mounts in four innings.

Cameron Yousaitis had a two-run single for Antietam.

KUTZTOWN 5, WYOMISSING 4 >> At Wyomissing April 18, Dylan Moyer went 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI and Ryan Brauer scored two runs and drove in one to lead the Cougars (9-3) over the Spartans.

Andrew Romanelli went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for Wyomissing.

Boys tennis

BERKS CATHOLIC 5, KUTZTOWN 2 >> At Forino Sports Complex April 17, Nick Webber and Nick Perella won in the singles bracket of their match with the Saints.

Weber took first singles in 6-4, 6-1 sets while Perella was extended to three sets at fourth singles, rebounding from a 6-2 loss in the opener to win 6-3, 10-15.

Boys track

BERKS CATHOLIC 108, KUTZTOWN 41 >> At Forino Sports Complex April 16, Mitchell Brett, Lorencz Jean-Baptiste and Lavrants Kongssund were the Cougars’ lone individual event winners in their meet with the Saints.

Brett won the 400 in 53.11. In the field, Jean-Baptiste headed the long jump (203) and Kongssund the pole vault (12-6).

Girls track

BERKS CATHOLIC 80, KUTZTOWN 70 >> At Forino Sports Complex April 16, Taylor Conroy, Marley Turbett and Skylar Miller all won pairs of individual events for the Cougars in their meet with the Saints.

Conroy headed the 100 (13.16) and 200 (27.09) for Kutztown. Turbett took the 100 low and 300 intermedia­te hurdles in respective times of 17.48 and 52.45, and Miller won the long jump (15-11/2) and triple jump (3291/2).

Brandywine Heights Baseball

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 7, KUTZTOWN1>> At Mertztown April 16, Joe Fatzinger struck out 11 and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, leading the Bullets past the Cougars. Fatzinger and Chad Maggs, who recorded the final out, combined on a three-hitter. John Harrison doubled twice and scored twice for Brandywine Heights and Trey Shive was 2-for-3. For Kutztown, Dylan Moyer had an RBI single and Justin Renninger doubled.

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 5, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 2 >> At Leesport April 17, Chase Renner pitched 5-1/3 hitless innings, striking out 10 to lead the Bullets over the Panthers.

Aaron Jarrett, Jon Harrison and Colin Schaller each had multiple hits for Brandywine. Dalton Geiger doubled and Joe Quigley had two hits for Schuylkill Valley.

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 15, DIERUFF 5 >> At Mertztown April 18, Colin Schaller went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI to lead the Bullets (6-3) 0ver the Huskies.

Aaron Jarrett went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Trey Shive went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Dieruff.

Softball

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3, FLEETWOOD0>> At Fleetwood April 18, Alexis Didinger went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Jess Davidheise­r had a double and struck out eight batters to lead the Bullets (64) past the Tigers (5-7).

Tahner Gehringer was 3-for-3 for Fleetwood.

Boys tennis

BERKS CATHOLIC 4, BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3 >> At Mertztown April 16, the Saints took three of five singles contests as they edged the Bullets.

Winning matches for Brandywine Heights were Andy Ludwig (second singles), Michael Sexton (third singles) and Sexton and Luca Jordache (second doubles).

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 7, HAMBURG 0 >> At Hamburg April 17, the Bullets won every singles match in two sets on the way to their sweep of the Hawks.

Brandywine’s best individual showing was Andy Ludwig’s 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles. The best individual showing for Hamburg came from Aaron Hix, who won seven games at fourth singles.

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 4, TULPEHOCKE­N 3 >> At Mertztown April 18, the Bullets were aided by winning three singles matches in their duel with Tulpehocke­n.

Brandywine’s best individual efforts came from Luca Jordache, who won at fourth singles, and the second doubles duo of Andy Ludwig and Michael Sexton. They lost just five games in their winning performanc­es.

Boys volleyball

BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3, BERKS CATHOLIC 1 >> At Wolf Gymnasium, the Bullets posted set wins of 25-23, 2515 and 25-21 after the Saints took the opener 25-23.

Jimmy Ludwig had 17 kills, one ace and 11 digs; Aaron Olsen had 10 kills, three aces and nine digs; and Matt Staurowski had 40 assists and eight digs for Brandywine. Owen Wolfe had 12 kills and three digs; Ethan Stoney had eight kills, five digs, two blocks and two aces; and Colin Balash had 34 digs and two aces for Berks Catholic. BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 3, LINVILLE CHRISTIAN 0 >> At Mertztown April 17, the Bullets swept their match with Linville by set scores of 2521, 29-27 and 25-22.

Jimmy Ludwig had 14 kills, eight digs, two aces and two blocks; Matt Staurowsky had 31 assists and 12 digs; and Miles Lyons had 15 digs, five kills and four blocks for Brandywine (6-0).

Fleetwood Baseball

WYOMISSING 7, FLEETWOOD 6 >> At Wyomissing April 17, Dane Yourkavitc­h hit a triple to bring in the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Darren Brunner had an infield single to bring in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Spartans over the Tigers.

Yourkavitc­h went 2-for4, Brunner went 2-for-5 and Andrew Romanelli went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Wyomissing. Reece Fenstermac­her went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Fleetwood. FLEETWOOD 4, UPPER PERKIOMEN 3 >> At Red Hill April 18, Reece Fenstermac­her led off the stop of the sixth with a walk, AJ Laucks sacrificed him to second, and Colton Cromer drove him in with an RBI single to score the winning run as the Tigers (3-7) defeated the Indians.

Softball

FLEETWOOD 11, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 6 >> At Fleetwood April 17, Tahner Gehringer was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Tigers over the Panthers.

Megan Brattley was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs and Steph Hegedus was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Fleetwood. Macy Zimmerman was 3-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBIs for Schuylkill Valley.

Boys tennis

FLEETWOOD 5, KUTZTOWN 2 >> At Fleetwood April 15, the Tigers won four singles matches on the way to securing the team victory over the Cougars.

Fleetwood’s best individual showing was Lucas Strange’s 6-1, 6-2 win at fifth singles. Kutztown got its best individual showing at first singles, where Nick Weber posted 6-0, 6-0 set scores.

FLEETWOOD 7, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 0 >> At Leesport April 17, the Tigers won all matches in straight sets to sweep the Panthers.

Fleetwood’s best individual efforts came from Matt Dybowski and Nick Miller at first and third singles, both posting 6-0, 6-0 sets. Luke Jozwiak headed SV by winning three games at fourth singles.

Boys track

FLEETWOOD 81, DANIEL BOONE 68 >> At Fleetwood April 16, Anthony DeFusco’s three-win showing was the high point for the Blazers in their meet with the Tigers.

DeFusco swept the jumping events, winning the long jump (20-4 1/2), triple jump (41-6 1/2) and high jump (6-0). Alex Pingitore gave Boone a first in the 3,200 (10:58), as did Ben Watton in the pole vault (10-0).

Girls track

DANIEL BOONE 100, FLEETWOOD 49 >> At Fleetwood April 16, the Blazers parlayed their success on the track into a victory over the Tigers.

Boone took all but two individual races and swept the relays. Winners on the track for the Blazers were Skylar Emory in the 100 (12.86), Erell Williams in the 200 (20.86), Renee Camburn in the 400 (1:06.79), Carlina Davis in the 800 (2:29.42), Olivia Poore in the 3,200 (12:47.56) and Nylah Cody in the 100 hurdles (18.25).

Hamburg Baseball

HAMBURG 4, FLEETWOOD 1 >> At Fleetwood April 15, Austin Gromlich hit a tworun homer in the first inning and Ethan Naftzinger pitched six innings, giving up a lone run, to pace the Hawks in the win over the Tigers.

OLEY VALLEY 7, HAMBURG 5 >> At FirstEnerg­y Stadium April 17, Lucas Myford was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Lynx over the Hawks.

Gavin Troutman was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs for Oley. Owen Zimmerman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Reece Adam was 2-for-4 with a double and a run for Hamburg.

NORTHWESTE­RN LEHIGH 7, HAMBURG 2 >> At New Tripoli April 19, Tarik Feick was 2-for-3 with a double and a run as the Hawks (8-3) fell to the Tigers.

Softball

HAMBURG 5, FLEETWOOD 2 >> At Hamburg April 16, Haley Gravish struck out nine and hit a grand slam to carry the Hawks past the Tigers.

Gravish pitched seven innings and belted her home run in the fifth inning to break open a 1-0 game. Tahner Gehringer went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Fleetwood.

DANIEL BOONE 7, HAMBURG 5 >> At Birdsboro April 17, Kristen DiNolfi hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to snap a tie and help the Blazers defeat the Hawks to move into a first-place tie in Berks II.

NORTHWESTE­RN LEHIGH 6, HAMBURG5>> At New Tripoli April 19, Halle Gerner homered as the Hawks (6-7) fell to the Tigers.

Boys tennis

HAMBURG 5, TULPEHOCKE­N 2 >> At New Schaeffers­town April 15, the Hawks won four of five singles contests in their match with the Trojans.

Derrick Boltz and Aaron Hix figured in on three of Hamburg’s points, winning matches at first and fourth singles before teaming up for another victory at first doubles.

Boys track

HAMBURG 97, OLEY VALLEY 52 >> At Oley April 16, the Hawks got a three-win outing from Alex Blatt in their meet with the Lynx.

Blatt swept the hurdles, taking the 110 highs in 16.45 and the 300 intermedia­tes in 44.52 while also winning the long jump with a 19-1 1/2 leap. Shaheed Warren dominated the sprints with his firsts in the 100 (11.7) and 200 (24.21), Mason Shirey headed the 800 (2:09.67) and 1,600 (4:42.49), Jacob Phillips took the shot put (46-11 1/2) and discus (125-11) and Josh Schreiner won the 400 (54.42) and triple jump (37-9).

Girls track

HAMBURG76, OLEYVALLEY­70 >> At Oley April 16, Jasynda Vize’s two-win showing in individual races headed the Hawks in their victory over the Lynx.

Vize won the 400 in 1:04.11 and the high jump in 4-10.

Schuylkill Valley Baseball

OLEY VALLEY 4, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY0>> At Leesport April 15, Andy Loeper threw a four-hit shutout and had a sacrifice fly in a four-run first inning, leading the Lynx past the Panthers.

Garet Blankenbil­ler went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple for Oley, Zack Pellock was 2-for-4 with a double and Jonas Hoch had an RBI double. For Schuylkill Valley, Nick Bernhart was 2-for-3.

Boys lacrosse

WILSON 14, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 7 >> At West Lawn April 16, the Bulldogs were led by Mason Lenart, Julian Smith and Ethan Stitzel with three goals each in the win over the Raiders.

Tyler Siglin scored four goals and an assist to pace Twin Valley.

GOV. MIFFLIN 15, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY3>> At Leesport April 20, Owen Gallen scored four goals, Connor Naugle and Aidan Ebersole each had three and the Mustangs (6-5) defeated the Panthers (2-9).

Tyler Siglin had a goal and an assist for Schuylkill Valley.

Girls lacrosse

WILSON 17, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 3 >> At Leesport April 16, Kendal Duffy and Lindsey Fox each had three goals and one assist to lead the Bulldogs over the Panthers.

Jaida Gumby had two of Schuylkill Valley’s goals, with Kara Faulk scoring the third.

SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 15, MUHLENBERG 1 >> At Leesport April 18, Jaida Gumby scored three goals to lead the Panthers (1-5, 4-7) over the Muhls.

Dakota Gravely, Alyssa Mask and Emily Sellers all scored pairs of goals for SV, which got 15-save goaltendin­g from Sierra Moyer.

Boys track

SCHUYLKILL VALLEY86, CONRAD WEISER 64 >> At Robesonia April 16, Tanner Mountz and Leonard Bastien-Vibrun won pairs of field events to lead the Panthers past the Scouts.

Mountz took the shot put (39-2 3/4) and discus (117-8), with Bastien-Vibrun heading the long jump (18-3) and triple jump (39-11).

Girls track

CONRAD WEISER 102, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 48 >> At Robesonia April 16, Ashlyn Giles’ sweep of the throwing events was the highlilght for the Panthers in their meet with the Scouts.

Giles won the shot put (35-0), discus (117-3) and javelin (99-1).

Boys volleyball

SCHUYLKILL VALLEY3, FLEETWOOD0>> At Fleetwood April 17, the Panthers swept the Tigers by set scores of 25-19, 2518 and 28-26.
