2 auto dealerships change names under new ownership
The former Freedom Toyota and Freedom Hyundai auto dealerships in Tilden Township are under new ownership.
The dealerships — located nearby Interstate 78, just off Route 61 — were acquired by Kelly Automotive Group, a Lehigh County-based business that now counts 10 lots in Eastern Pennsylvania and two more in Florida under its umbrella.
Kelly Auto Group cited the area’s development in recent years as the reason behind the acquisition in a release.
“Our goal has been to expand in the Greater Lehigh Valley and Eastern Pennsylvania and we’ve been watching the steady retail growth along Route 61 in Hamburg since Cabela’s opened,” said Greg Kelly, president of Kelly Auto Group.
The Tilden dealerships began operating as Kelly Toyota and Kelly Hyundai in April and will continue selling the same makes and models of vehicles.

Hyundai remain up and running and “will not miss a beat” as a result of the changeover.
“Toyota and Hyundai are sought after brands with large owner bases and impressive product lineups,” Kelly said.” That combination of great product and great people working at the dealerships made it the perfect time for us to expand to Hamburg.”
Terms of the sale, including price, were not immediately disclosed.
The dealerships were constructed after the property — located on Industrial Drive, just outside Hamburg — was subdivided in 2006.
Kelly Auto Group touts over 50 years in business, and while its newly acquired dealerships are located in Berks County, it plans to market Kelly Toyota and Kelly Hyundai across county lines.
“It’s less than 20 minutes from Lehigh County and we’ll make it even more convenient for our Lehigh Valley customers by offering online buying and home delivery,” Kelly said.
