Memorial Day parade scheduled
The Wagner-Good Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Behler-Hein American Legion Post will jointly host a Memorial Day parade and ceremonies in Hamburg, organizers announced.
The parade will be held May 31 from approximately 9 to 11:30 a.m., said Steve Cashman, parade chairman.
Ceremonies will begin 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Second and State streets.
The line of march will follow a route on State
Street to Fourth Street and Confer Avenue to Greenwood Cemetery, where memorial ceremonies will be held.
Additional ceremonies will be held at St. John’s Cemetery around 10:15 a.m.
The parade will disband after the ceremony at St. John’s Cemetery.
An open house with food and refreshments will be held at VFW Post 216, Fourth and State streets, and the American Legion Post on Franklin Street after the parade.
The public is invited to walk along with the parade participants.
In the event of rain, ceremonies will be conducted indoors at 10 a.m. in the Union Fire Company field house.
Participants are asked to self distance at the various venues, Cashman said.
