The Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club announced that they will once again host their Once Upon a Prom dress drive to ensure that “once upon a time” moment at the prom.

Club members recognize that the dress is a huge part of going to prom and unfortunately for some young ladies it is an enormous financial burden. A few years ago, members decided to hold an event that would help provide beautiful prom dresses for those who might not otherwise have the means to purchase them.

The Junior Woman’s Club will be collecting dresses through March 4 for their upcoming Once Upon a Prom event. The idea behind Once Upon a Prom is that once you’ve had your “once upon a time” moment, you can give another hers.

The Club welcomes clean, non-torn dresses of all sizes, both long and short, as well as purses, clutches, jewelry and wraps. Donations

are being accepted through March 4 and can be dropped off at Zuber Realty, 201 East Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year will be the seventh year Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club is holding the event. Unfortunately, last year the event could not happen due to gathering restrictions. In 2020 just before the pandemic guidelines began, more than 50 girls attended from local communities. This year the Club hopes that number rises as they have more than 800 dresses in stock.

“We are always grateful for the outpouring of support by the community. Their donation of dresses and accessories help make this event possible. We hope to reach to more and more girls and continue to see them leave Once Upon a Prom with a dress in their hands, smile on their face, and ready for prom!” said Danelle Matlack, BJWC member.

Girls in junior and senior high from all school districts are welcomed to attend the event which will be held on March 5 and 6 and March 12 and 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Miracles in Motion, 123 East Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown. There is no charge for the dress or accessories. Monetary donations in any amount will be accepted and donated to Boyertown Post Prom.

A group of dedicated women who volunteer their time and talents to enrich the Boyertown area and beyond with projects benefiting youth and those in need, the Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, one of the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women’s volunteer service organizations.
