Salem EC Church hosts popular large indoor yard sale in Lenhartsville March 4 and 5

Annual event draws bargain hunters from across Berks

Salem Church in Lenhartsville will once again host a large indoor yard sale on Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5.

The event will be held indoors in the church’s gymnasium regardless of weather.

Salem’s popular sale is held each year and draws people from Lenhartsville, Hamburg and surrounding communities looking for bargains as well as homemade soups and sandwiches.

One nice thing about the event, Pastor David Long said, is that items can be spread out in the gym. This also allows people to spread out and have lots of space as they shop the tables and racks of items. Doors will open promptly at 8 a.m. both days. On Friday, March 4, the sale will close at 3 p.m. and the event will end Saturday at 1 p.m. Cash payment is requested.

All items for sale have been donated by church members and the community and include children and adult clothing, baby items, housewares, furniture, toys, hobby supplies and decorations. Event organizers pride themselves on sorting and pricing each item with care and offering rock-bottom pricing. When possible, electronic items are confirmed to be in working order.

“We never know just what stuff we will get from year to year,” Long said, adding that every year organizers wonder where all the items come from.

As in past years, a selection of hot food will be sold from the kitchen at the back of the gym. Church members will supply a variety of homemade soups and kitchen volunteers will make fried egg sandwiches to order. Hot dogs, French fries and drinks will also be available.

All proceeds from the Salem Church Yard Sale will go into the church’s ministry funds, which benefit the Lenhartsville and Hamburg community.

Salem holds in-person worship each Sunday at 9 a.m. and small groups and activities are held throughout the week.
