Leesport Area Historical Society program on Boyertown Opera House Fire: 7 p.m., Bethany EC Church; 308 Main St., Leesport. Margaret Harner, Boyertown native, gives a presentation about the Rhoads Opera House fire in 1908 which
is still listed as one of the most tragic fires in American history, when 10% of the town’s population, 170 people, perished; 165 in 15 minutes.

Leesport Area Historical Society Museum Open
House: 1 to 4 p.m. at 128 Main St., Leesport. Visit the four-room schoolhouse which served the Leesport community from 1858until 1961. See regional and local artifacts including a 1700s Quaker marriage certificate and visit a classroom circa 1940s.

Sundays in March: National Genealogy Day is March 12 and Berks County Genealogy Society celebrates the entire month. Every Sunday noon to 4p.m. is open house in the library. On March 20 and 27 from 3 to 4 p.m. is a free beginner’s class on how to get started with your family research and use of the library. No RSVP required.
