Hamburg alumni host Blast from the Past Mega Reunion May 7
Reunion brings together graduates from 25-year period — 1960 to 1984
After several delays due to the pandemic, Hamburg Area High School alumni are invited to the Blast from the Past Mega Reunion to be held at the Hamburg Union Fire Co. Field House on May 7.
“We started planning this event in 2019 and are so excited that we are finally doing it,” said Stephanie Reichard, head of the volunteer committee.
Doors open at 4 p.m. with the main event scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with local business owner George Mitten acting as Master of Ceremonies. The fun continues until 10:30 p.m. with dancing and catching up with old friends.
The reunion brings together classmates from a 25-year period — all those who attended school in the graduating classes of 1960 to 1984, which includes the original Perry High School in Shoemakersville.
Nearly 1,000 tickets have been sold, and organizers hope to spread the word to all ticket holders that this undertaking is finally happening.
“No worries if you bought your tickets but now can’t find them,” said Ticket Committee chairperson Sue Wessner. “Our dedicated committee has the names of all buyers, so when you come to the door, you’ll tell us who sold you the tickets, and you’re in.”
Tickets include entrance to the Field House, beer, soda, and ice (BYO wine and spirits will be permitted). Music from all eras and entertaining videos will be provided by local DJ Shawn Kramer.
Music Committee chairperson Linda Alspach announced that she has 20 plus musicians ready to play live music throughout the night in several newlyformed groups, created just for this event. All musicians are former Hamburg students and are excited to show they still know how to rock ’n roll.
Also on site will be several food trucks from local entrepreneurs, featuring a wide variety of food for purchase from 4 to 8 p.m. A Shuttle Bus which will run continuously from 5 to 10:30 p.m. between the Field House front entrance and the Hamburg Middle School parking lot, just a few minutes away. The ticket committee wants to emphasize, “There will be NO tickets sold at the door.” Ticket holders only will be permitted onsite.
