Hawk Mountain Sanctuary hosts Benefit for the Birds Gala

Gala at Folino Estate Winery features live music, raptor encounters

-

Member-funded raptor conservation organization Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton kicks off its annual Benefit for Birds Spring Campaign and Online Auction by hosting a new and improved in-person Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 12 at Folino Estate Winery in Kutztown.

Local small businesses, restaurants, and artists gifted unique, handmade items and experiences that can be bid on virtually through Greater Giving. It is the Sanctuary’s fourth year using the platform to operate the online auction, which runs from May 12 to June 30.

The gala will be an evening of mingling, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and raptor encounters. In addition, a live auction will give attendees exclusive access to bid on featured items and events.

“Attending is a must for those wanting to bid on experiences like a private, guided hawk watching day and much more,” said Tammy Jandrasitz-Bodey, event coordinator.

Previously, the benefit has been virtual due to COVID-19, but it had sold out for nine years before that.

“After two years of having an online-only auction, bringing back an in-person event is a great way to meet friends in person and support a great organization,” Tammy said.

When attending, guests will celebrate the Sanctuary’s supporters and members with Hawk Mountain staff. Sanctuary President Sean Grace will present an update on Hawk Mountain.

“This year’s gala is extra special because we are reenvisioning the event, moving away from a traditional sit-down dinner to focusing more on mingling with wine and hors d’oeuvres at a new venue, and getting to know others in and around the organization,” said Grace. “This is a conservation celebration you do not want to miss!”

Details about both the in-person gala and online auction can be found at hawkmountain.org/benefit, and the bidding page can be found there shortly before its launch on May 12. The online auction platform is intuitive and accessible to anyone with a laptop or mobile device. Hawk Mountain staff will also be available for assistance and troubleshooting during the gala.

Tickets to attend cost $150 a person. To receive an official invitation or inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Tammy Jandrasitz-Bodey at jandrasitz@hawkmountain.org. Donation and sponsorship information can be found on the Benefit for Birds webpage.
