Rodale Institute CEO Jeff Moyer named to “Pennsylvania Agriculture Power 100” list
KUTZTOWN » Rodale Institute CEO Jeff Moyer is being recognized for his impact on Pennsylvania’s $81 billion agricultural sector. “City and State Pennsylvania,” which covers Pennsylvania government and politics, has named Moyer to its first agriculture-focused power 100 list.
The list highlights 100 leaders “cultivating the state’s thriving farming sectors.”
“It’s a great honor to work on behalf of Pennsylvania’s regenerative organic farmers in our shared mission of building a healthier food system that works to heal people and the planet,” Moyer said in a statement. “Rodale Institute’s scientific research and farmersupport programs have transformed farms in the commonwealth, and I am thrilled to see that our impact is being recognized by organizations like City and State Pennsylvania.”
Moyer joined Rodale Institute in 1976, spending 30 years as farm manager/ director before being appointed as executive director of the Institute in 2015. he was named CEO in 2020.
Moyer is well-known for conceptualizing and popularizing a Rodale Institute-invented tractor attachment dubbed the “roller crimper,” a vital tool in no-till organic agriculture that reduces soil erosion, improves soil health, and increases biodiversity, according to a press release.
Moyer has served as the chairman of the National Organic Standards Board, and currently sits on the boards of the Regenerative Organic Alliance, the Soil Health Institute, and the advisory board of The Real Organic Project. In addition, he is a founding board member of Pennsylvania Certified Organic and past Founder and Board Chair of The Seed Farm, a farmer incubator project.
