Spartans wins 30th straight regular season game

Wyomissing ties Wilson’s Berks record for consecutiv­e victories

Wyomissing tied the Berks record with its 30th straight regular season win, running by Elco 42-0 Friday in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 4 game at Myerstown.

The Spartans (2-0, 5-0) tied the mark set by Wilson from 2012-15.

Wyomissing ran for 347 yards on 40 carries and held Elco (0-2, 3-2) to just 79 yards of offense.

The Spartans led 14-0 after a quarter and 35-0 at halftime.

Charlie McIntyre started the scoring with a 42-yard run. Jeremiah Diaz caught a 31-yard pass from Ben Zechman to make it 14-0.

In the second quarter, Wyomissing scored on a 14-yard run by Matthew Kramer, a 3-yard run by Chase Eisenhower and a pass from Zechman to Drew Eisenhower.

Drew Eisenhower ran for the only touchdown of the second half.

The Spartans will look to set the county record for consecutiv­e regular season wins when they play at Donegal on Sept. 30. CONRAD WEISER 45, OCTORARA 7 >> Friday at Atglen, Conrad Weiser ran for 270 yards and scored the game’s final 38 points in rolling to a win over Octorara in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 4 game.

The Scouts (2-0, 3-2) outgained the Braves 443-257 in winning their second straight.

Ousmane Conde gave Weiser a 7-0 lead on a 1-yard run before Braeden Wood tied it for Octorara (0-2, 1-4) on a 25-yard run.

Trey Dianna caught a 34yard pass from Donovan Gingrich to give the Scouts the lead for good at 14-7.

They made it 21-7 on a 3-yard run by Gingrich with 27 seconds left in the first half.

Weiser then scored on the second play from scrimmage in the second half on Sevon Parham’s 63-yard run to make it 28-7.

Adam Noll kicked a 28-yard field goal, Conde scored on a 1-yard run and Jonathon McQuillen had a 69-yard TD run to finish the scoring.

SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 55, PEQUEA VALLEY 7 >> Friday at Kinzers, Dominic Giuffre rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns to lead Schuylkill Valley to a 55-7 victory over Pequea Valley in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 5 game.

The Panthers (2-0, 3-2) had 271 rushing yards and 404 yards of total offense against the Braves (0-2, 0-5).

Schuylkill Valley limited Pequea Valley to 83 rushing yards and 147 yards of total offense.

Giuffre scored on runs of 45, 40 and 13 yards to give the Panthers a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

After Pequea Valley scored its lone touchdown on a 5-yard run by Orlando Stoltzfus in the second quarter, Schuylkill Valley answered with two more TDs to take a 35-7 halftime lead.

Quarterbac­k Michael Goad threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Lackner, and Jacob Stelluti scored on 5-yard run.

Goad finished 4-of-6 passing for 86 yards and also ran for 30 yards on five carries.

Giuffre scored on a 10yard run and backup quarterbac­k Logan Nawrocki threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Lackner to make it 49-7 after three quarters. Lackner finished with a team-high 79 receiving yards on three catches.

Nawrocki closed the scoring on a 1-yard run.

Kowen Gerner, Cooper Hohenadel and Logan Cammauf had intercepti­ons for the Panthers.

Schuylkill Valley continues Section 5 play when it travels to Northern Lebanon on Sept. 30.

PENN MANOR 36, READING HIGH 7 >> Friday at Millersvil­le, Penn Manor returned three Reading High turnovers for touchdowns in beating the Red Knights 36-7 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 game.

After taking a 3-0 lead on a 25-yard field goal by Peter Skiadas, the Comets (20, 3-2) scored on a 30-yard intercepti­on return by Jonathan Osman to go up 9-0 at halftime.

Penn Manor then put it away by scoring 27 points in the third quarter.

Eli Warfel ran for a touchdown before the Comets got fumble returns for TDs from Sekai Lewis and Jordan Martin. Osman ran for another touchdown to put Penn Manor up 36-0 after three quarters.

Ryan Roman ran for a touchdown for Reading High (0-2, 2-3) in the fourth quarter.

EPHRATA 28, DANIEL BOONE 20 >> Friday at Birdsboro, Daniel Boone gave up several long plays and was unable to convert on a couple short ones in falling to Ephrata in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 game.

The Mountainee­rs (1-1, 3-2) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 96-yard pass from Sam McCracken to Nate Conover

Blazers quarterbac­k Dean Rotter scored on runs of 1 yard and 24 yards in the second quarter to put Boone (0-2, 1-4) up 147. Ephrata responded with 79-yard TD pass from McCracken to Andre Weidman to tie it 14-14 at the half.

The Mountainee­rs took the lead for good on a 25yard pass from McCracken to Weidman.

The Blazers had a chance to tie it, but were stopped on back-to-back quarterbac­k sneaks from the 1.

Ephrata went up 28-14 on Weidman’s third touchdown of the game, a 27-yard run late in the third quarter.

Boone scored on a 19yard pass from Rotter to Draven Klick with 5:29 left, but missed the extra point to cut it to just 28-20.

The Blazers got the ball back at their 29 with 3:31 left, but turned it over on downs at the 37.

The Mountainee­rs then were able to run out the clock.

GARDEN SPOT 44, FLEETWOOD 0 >> Friday at New Holland, Fleetwood had just 124 yards of total offense in falling to Garden Spot in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 3 game.

The loss was the second straight for the Tigers (0-2, 2-3).

Garden Spot quarterbac­k Kyle Harting threw for three touchdowns and ran for two. Nicolas Gleason made three field goals for the Spartans (2-0, 4-1).

Fleetwood quarterbac­k Jack Riffle completed 16-of29 passes for 119 yards and threw two intercepti­ons. The Tigers ran for just 5 yards on 22 carries.

Gleason made two field goals in the first quarter before Harting connected with Blake Weaver for a 62-yard touchdown pass to make it 13-0 after one.

Gleason made his final field goal of the night with 10:34 left in the second.

Harting ran for a 79-yard touchdown with 7:23 left in the first half to give Garden Spot a 23-0 lead. He threw touchdown passes to Zechariah Nagle and Jace Conrad later in the second to give the Spartans a 37-0 halftime lead.

The Tigers were limited to 44 yards of total offense in the first half.

The scoring closed out in the third quarter when Harting scored a 33-yard run.

Owen Kotsch made two intercepti­ons and had a fumble recovery for Fleetwood. Ty Wamsher had 151 kick return yards, and Mason Musitano caught five passes for a team-high 42 yards for the Tigers.

Garden Spot rushed 32 times for 328 total yards and had 158 passing yards off seven completion­s.

Fleetwood returns home on Oct. 1 to take on Kennard-Dale.
