Exeter rolls to big victory over Lebanon

- Reading Eagle

Exeter scored six touchdowns in the first quarter on the way to a 69-22 victory over Lebanon in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 game at Lebanon.

The Eagles (2-0, 5-0) led 63-0 in the third quarter.

In the first quarter, Richie Karstien scored on a 19-yard run, Joey Schlaffer on a 70-yard pass from Mason Rotelli, Genuine Stutzman on a fumble recovery in the end zone, Carter Redding on a 39yard run, Rotelli on a 6-yard run and Isaiah Choy on a 13-yard pass from Rotelli.

Zaymar Paschall scored on a 1-yard run and Jayden Zandier on a 63-yard interception return in the second quarter to make it 57-0 at halftime.

Gavin Miller had a 3-yard TD run in the third quarter and a 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth for Exeter.

Xavier Figueroa ran for two touchdowns for Lebanon (0-2, 0-5).

“Special” is the only word Wilson coach Doug Dahms needs in his description of senior Cam Jones.

Jones had another special night Friday, rushing for more than 100 yards and accounting for three touchdowns to help Wilson defeat visiting Cedar Crest 36-13 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 football game.

Junior quarterback Tommy Hunsicker also came up with some key contributions to help the Bulldogs (2-0, 4-1) defeat the Falcons (0-2, 2-3) for their fourth straight win.

Dahms was a little more cautious in his description of Hunsicker, who in his fifth game as a starter threw three touchdown passes, rushed for 81 yards and even caught one of his own passes for 11 yards.

“He’s getting there,” Dahms said. “He still needs to work on some decisionmaking skills. We’ll look at the film and we’ll make the corrections. He’s a smart kid, he’ll get better.”

Which could only open more opportunities for Jones, who scored on runs of 8 and 27 yards in the first 14 minutes to help Wilson jump to a 15-0 lead. Jones finished with 113 yards on eight carries and had two receptions for 54 yards and another score. He also rushed for a twopoint conversion.

“He’s special,” Dahms said.
