Fleetwood Area High School names September Students of the Month
The daughter of Danny and Colleen Wessner of Blandon, Emily has been involved in Women’s Empowerment, Sustainable Students, Interact Club, Model United Nation, Miller Keystone Blood Drive, Volleyball, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Rho Kappa Historical Honor Society, and Class of 2023 officer. Her volunteer activities include the Miller Keystone Blood Drives, Rotary Days of Service, Rotary 4 Way Speech Contest and Recreational Dance.
She admires many female role models in politics who have shaped who she is and influences her to take up a career in politics. Women like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Hillary Clinton, Stacy Abrams, and Michelle Obama have given her a sense of empowerment because of their vocal confidence.
Her future plans include attending a four-year university and studying political science, philosophy and economics with the intention of working in public policy field.
Andrew Haas
The son of Gregory and Patricia Haas of Fleetwood, Andrew has been involved in Student Council, Chorus, Golf, Interact Club, Orchestra, National Honor Society, Jazz Band, Mock Trial, Rho Kappa Historical Honor Society, National Business Honor Society, Drumline, Marching Band, Tennis, Envirothon, Model United Nations, Wind Ensemble, Volleyball, Future Business Leaders of America and Pit Orchestra. He has volunteered for the community through Friend Inc. Community Services, Boy Scouts of America, Relay for Life, Potato Project and his church youth group.
One person Andrew really admires is Jackie Robinson because he was an ambitious, determined, fearless and remarkable individual. Amidst adversity, including constant taunting
and threats, his courage and patience prevailed allowing him to break the color barrier in baseball and change both the sport and American society forever.
His future plans include continuing attending a four-year university to dual major in finance and marketing or economics.
