Oct. 17 21st annual Safe Berks Silent Witness March:

11 a.m. at Safe Berks, 255Chestnu­t St., Reading. Silent march 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. to Reading Area Community College’s

Schmidt Training & Technology Center. Dedication at noon followed by lunch. Berks victims of domestic violence homicide remembered for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. doors open 6 p.m., meeting 6:30p.m. on fourth floor of GoggleWork­s Center for the Arts, 201 Washington St., Reading. Randell Fegley, retired Penn State history professor, will speak on “What happened in Old Country’s German and Swiss Anabaptist who came to Berks County.”

Trunk or Treat: 6 p.m. at Kempton Community Center. Halloween costume contests and parade, games, food, scoops of Nesting Box ice cream and hay rides. Unveil your artistic and spooky side and decorate your trunk or pick-up to win prizes. Trunk set-up begins at 4:30p.m. Event starts at 6 p.m. with parade at 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 22 AYCE Homemade Turkey Pot- Pie Dinner:

3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Kutztown Grange Hall, Kemp Street and James Alley, Kutztown. Lettuce with bacon dressing, corn and green beans, applesauce, roll and butter, beverage, one dessert included. Berks History Center Road Ramble: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. self-guided driving tour, celebrates Berks historian Geroge M. Meiser, IX. Starts at Berks History Center, 940 Centre Ave., Reading. Tour through Leesport, Hamburg, Lenhartsvi­lle, Virginvill­e, Kempton and concludes at Albany Township Historical Society, where food will be available for purchase. Pumpkin patch, touch a truck, games (free or minimal charge), animals, antique tractors, hayride, candy drop from a firetruck. Free admission and parking. Every child 10 and under will get a free pumpkin to decorate and a punch card to earn a free ice cream cone, while supplies last. Program: Volunteers are needed to tutor 2nd grade students who need extra support with reading at Kutztown Elementary School and GreenwichL­enhartsvil­le Elementary School on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. during the 2022-2023 school year. No previous teaching experience is required. This opportunit­y is for anyone interested in volunteeri­ng weekly for one hour. Current background clearances are required and training provided. Berks Opera Company: Auditions for 2023 production of “L’Enfant et les Sortileges” and “Gianni Schicchi” set for Nov. 26. CHURCH NEWS Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zion Church Road, Shoemakers­ville

Oct. 16: we will celebrate Holy Communion at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The service will be in person, Facebook Live, and the church website. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m. All are welcome. In the afternoon, Zion’s Family Bike Ride will be meeting at the Bertram Trail to start the ride at 2 p.m. Snacks and a time of fellowship will take place after the ride.
