“Fishing during the fall, especially, provides some of the most beautiful scenery and comfortable temperatures of the year as you enjoy an adventure on your favorite stream or lake.”

Anglers looking to continue fishing this fall and winter should have plenty of chances to land a trout.

Officials from the state Fish and Boat Commission on Thursday, Oct. 13, stocked rainbow trout into the Tulpehocken Creek in Bern Township as part of the commission’s fall and winter trout stocking program.

The program is designed to replenish some of the most popular fishing spots across the state and allow fishing opportunities to continue throughout the winter.

“Fishing during the fall, especially, provides some of the most beautiful scenery and comfortable temperatures of the year as you enjoy an adventure on your favorite stream or lake,” said Brian Wisner, director of the commission’s Bureau of Hatcheries. “We’re excited to make that time spent on the water even more enjoyable by making sure there are plenty of stocked trout fishing opportunities available across Pennsylvania to complement the world-class wild trout fisheries that really come alive around the same time the leaves start changing colors.”

The commission will be stocking about 116,000 hatchery-raised rainbow, brown and brook trout in more than 100 streams and lakes. The effort will continue through mid-December.

The following waterways in Berks also will be stocked:

• Scotts Run Lake will be stocked with rainbow trout on Oct. 18.

• Antietam Reservoir will be stocked with rainbow trout on Nov. 11.

• Kaercher Creek Dam will be stocked with rainbow trout on Dec. 13.
