Shrek the Musical for Senior Citizens: at Kutztown Area High School, 50Trexler Ave., Kutztown. Dinner provided free to the first 150senior citizens. Cafeteria doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Reservations for dinner are highly recommended. A preview show will follow at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Senior citizens may attend the show only, without dinner. No reservations or tickets are needed for the show. Donations are appreciated. To make a reservation, call Danielle at 610-751-0772.

Leesport Area Historical Society Program: 7p.m. at Bethany EC Church, 308Main St., Leesport. Cindy Ross will present her experience of hiking more than 2,000miles from Georgia to Maine on the legendary Appalachian Trail. Her sketches and vivid descriptions bring to life not only the personalities encountered along the way but also the true spirit of the Appalachian Trail community. Ross will have books available to purchase. Parking in rear. Handicapped access on left side facing front of church.

Christmas in Kutztown: 1 to 5 p.m. at Kutztown Train Station.
Presented by Off-Campus Advisory Council. Letters to Santa, photo opportunities, cookie decorating, street vendors, food vendors, ornament making, train rides, entertainment by local groups. Leesport Area Historical Society Museum Open House: 1to 4p.m. at 128Main Street, Leesport. Santa visits 1to 3p.m. plus festive face painting, tour of four-room schoolhouse which served the Leesport community from 1858until 1961. See regional and local artifacts including a 1700s Quaker marriage certificate and visit a classroom circa 1940s.

Kutztown Optimist Club Senior Citizen’s Dinner: 5 p.m. at Kutztown Grange, doors open at 4p.m. Entertainment and awards after dinner. All senior citizens age 75and older residing within Borough of Kutztown, Wilson Manner, or Saucony Cross invited to attend free of charge. Those who attended 2021dinner will receive a call from Optimist Club. Kutztown residents age 75who never attended the dinner, call Andy Schlegel at 610-683-3743 by Nov. 20. Senior citizens may bring a guest who is not age 75 or does not live in the Borough of Kutztown. Guests pay $17for meal. Optimist Club will provide transportation to and from the dinner upon request.

Kutztown Area High School Leo Club Winter Clothing Drive: Leo Club will be collecting gently used winter weather clothing such as jackets, hats, gloves, scarves to be donated to the local Salvation Army for local redistribution. Drop off donation in boxes located at all Kutztown Area School District schools. Drive will continue through the second week of December.
Holiday Box Collection: Friend, Inc is again collecting items for food boxes for local families. Donate just certain items or fill a whole box for one family or donate money for the purchase of turkeys, money or GIANT gift cards.
Church news ZION’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 354 ZIONS CHURCH ROAD, SHOEMAKERSVILLE
Nov. 18: A team of volunteers from Zion’s Lutheran Church will provide the evening meal at Opportunity House.
Nov. 20: Christ the King Sunday will be celebrated with Holy Communion at 10:30a.m. The service will be in person, on Facebook Live, and the church website. Sunday for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m.
Zion’s Women of the ELCA: celebrating National Gratitude Month by collecting items for Mary’s Shelter to benefit homeless teens and pregnant women. Items will be collected until Nov. 20, including size 3, 4, 5 diapers, bibs, baby oil and shampoo as well as sandwich bags, trash bags, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, paper plates and cups.
