SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS IN DECEMBER

Reading Railroad Heritage Museum’s “Nostalgic Christmas Trains” exhibit: open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. at the museum, 500S. Third St., Hamburg. The display features vintage and modern model trains in six sizes operating in a holiday setting. A vintage collection of rare Plasticvil­le buildings and accessorie­s from the 1950s tells the history and developmen­t of Plasticvil­le buildings and their popular use in model railroadin­g and Christmas displays. Admission includes outdoor tours of the railyard led by experience­d guides, weather permitting. Christmas in Kutztown: 1 to 5 p.m. at Kutztown Train Station. Presented by Off-Campus Advisory Council. Letters to Santa, photo opportunit­ies, cookie decorating, street vendors, food vendors, ornament making, train rides, entertainm­ent by local groups. DEC. 4 Leesport Area Historical Society Museum Open House:

1to 4p.m. at 128Main Street, Leesport. Santa visits 1to 3p.m. plus festive face painting, tour of four-room schoolhous­e which served the Leesport community from 1858until 1961. See regional and local artifacts including a 1700s Quaker marriage certificat­e and visit a classroom circa 1940s.

DEC. 4 Kutztown Optimist Club Senior Citizen’s Dinner:

5 p.m. at Kutztown Grange, doors open at 4p.m. Entertainm­ent and awards after dinner. All senior citizens age 75and older residing within Borough of Kutztown, Wilson Manner, or Saucony Cross invited to attend free of charge. Those who attended 2021dinner will receive a call from Optimist Club. Kutztown residents age 75who never attended the dinner, call Andy Schlegel at 610-683-3743 by Nov. 20. Senior citizens may bring a guest who is not age 75 or does not live in the Borough of Kutztown. Guests pay $17for meal. Optimist Club will provide transporta­tion to and from the dinner upon request.

Wreath Making: 2 p.m. at Keystone Villa at Fleetwood, 501Hoch Road, Blandon, in the community room. Free wreath-making activity and light refreshmen­ts. No experience necessary. Easy step-by-step instructio­ns provided on designing your seasonally inspired wreath, with two options, nutcracker or snowman. Masks are encouraged but optional. Holiday Spiritual and Holistic Bazaar:

Dec. 10and 11from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. at Leesport Farmers Market inside the Banquet Hall. More than 50 vendors with basket raffles that benefit the Chopper Foundation, raffle tickets $5for a sheet of 25tickets and raffle tickets drawn at 5 p.m. on Sunday (don’t need to be present to win). ANNOUNCEME­NTS Kutztown Area High School Leo Club Winter Clothing Drive:

Leo Club will be collecting gently used winter weather clothing such as jackets, hats, gloves, scarves to be donated to the local Salvation Army for local redistribu­tion. Drop off donation in boxes located at all Kutztown Area School District schools. Drive will continue through the second week of December. Holiday Box Collection: Friend, Inc is again collecting items for food boxes for local families. You can donate just certain items or fill a whole box for one family anything you can help with is very appreciate­d! Also, if you would like to donate money for the purchase of turkeys, money or GIANT gift cards can be donated to Friend, Inc. They can then purchase turkeys at a discount to hand out to their clients.

CHURCH NEWS ZION’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 354 ZIONS CHURCH ROAD, SHOEMAKERS­VILLE

Dec. 1: Zion’s Lutheran will host the Northern Berks Ministeriu­m Advent Worship service at 11:30 a.m. The service will be followed by a soup and bread fellowship. A free will offering to benefit the Emergency Assistance Fund will be collected.

Dec. 4: The second Sunday in Advent with Holy Communion and lighting of the 2nd Advent candle will be held at 10:30a.m. The service will be in person, Facebook Live, and the church website.

Salvation Army Tree: new and unwrapped gifts are to be returned Dec. 4, for a scheduled pickup on Dec. 5.
