JAN. 22 Leesport Area Historical Society program:
7 p.m. at Bethany EC Church, 308 Main St., Leesport. Brian Engelhardt will present on the construction of Lake Ontelaunee along with the crisis in Reading’s water supply that had developed by the 1920s that created the need for it. Also discussed will be the drama of what the Reading Times termed a “Shotgun Rebellion” by the local farmers that arose when construction began, along with the accompanying political drama in Reading City Hall.

11 a.m. at Keystone Villa at Fleetwood, 501 Hoch Road in Blandon. Free presentation from local professionals who will guide you through the downsizing process and complimentary lunch. 1:30to 3p.m. at Midway Diner, Route I-78 Exit 16, Bethel. Pennsylvania German Zammelaaf organization sponsors Grundsau Daag fer Yunge. Free Groundhog Day event for ages 5-12, all youth must be accompanied by an adult. Donations accepted.
