Judge him by his vote

-

Here we go again. The Democratic leadership seems to follow the same cycle on major issues. When problems arise—health care, debt limit, etc.— they do not devise a workable solution. They let it go until the last minute until it becomes a crisis, use scare tactics, blame the Republican Congress and finally agree to a solution where they get pretty much what they wanted all along. Then, they refer to it as a bipartisan answer.

I think one of the best at this is Sen. Mark Pryor. At one point, he gave the appearance of opposition to Obamacare, but when it came to decision time, he marched with the president and his cronies on the vote. A majority of Arkansans did not want Obamacare, but it apparently didn’t matter to him.

On the debt ceiling, he is already into the scare tactics and the blame game. Where are the proposed spending cuts to justify more debt? Just a matter of “We’ll deal with that later.” And they never do.

Now we are considering gun control. An overwhelming number of Arkansans oppose it. Pryor’s stance on this issue seems to be wait and see at vote time, if the party needs my vote. If it’s a lost cause, he’ll likely vote against it and give the appearance of representing us. If the president needs his vote to pass the legislation he desires, counter to our wishes, he’ll vote for the bill as he did with Obamacare.

The message is loud and clear. In the next election, pay no attention to what Pryor says. Judge him on how he votes. L.J. MICKEY JORDAN
