-

John Lea, 42, of Fort Smith was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release on two counts of receiving child pornography, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge.

Lea pleaded guilty to the charges June 11.

In March, agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant related to the trafficking of child pornography over the Internet at Lea’s Fort Smith home.

Agents seized an Apple iPhone and a Blackberry. A forensic examination of the devices revealed multiple images and videos of child pornography, according to the news release.

Lea admitted to exchanging child pornography over the Internet and to saving the images on his cellphone, according to the release. During sentencing, it was revealed that Lea had been convicted twice for sexual abuse of a minor.

U.S. District Judge Paul K. Holmes III presided over the sentencing in the federal court in Fort Smith.
