BELLA VISTA — Jack Park, 88, of Bella Vista, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died of cancer Sunday, July 19, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e.

Jack was born Sept. 4 , 1926 , in Des Moines. He graduated from Des Moines Lincoln High School in 1944. He volunteere­d to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was assigned to the Pacific Theater and served on the USS Bland. He married Jacquelyn Grate on November 9, 1946. Jack was a sheet metal journeyman and foreman at Hanbury Sheet Metal in Des Moines, and taught courses to apprentice­s. He owned and operated Park Sheet Metal in Altoona, Iowa, during the 1970s. He then worked as a project manager at The Waldinger Corp. in Des Moines until his retirement in 1989.

Jack and Jackie moved to Bella Vista in 1990. He worked as a golf course play manager and managed the Foster Group golfers for many years. He enjoyed retirement doing what he liked best; spending time with family and friends, playing golf, playing cards, bowling, and using his outstandin­g leadership skills.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters Jodi (Rick) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jan (Charlie) Riedmuelle­r of Bella Vista; brother Bill Park and sister-in-law Darlene Park of Des Moines; two step-grandsons, Charlie Riedmuelle­r II of Bentonvill­e and Kevin Riedmuelle­r of Bryant; two step-great-grandsons; one niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Park; his mother, Esther; and a brother, Floyd.

His body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23rd, at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. 72715. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jack was a wonderful husband, father, brother, worker

and friend. He overcame all obstacles with determinat­ion and an unerring moral compass. He was one of the greatest.

BELLA VISTA — Walter Leslie Shufelt, age 65, of Bella Vista, died July 18, 2015, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e. He was born in Coffeyvill­e, Kan., on July 1, 1950. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves, a member of the American Legion, and attended First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Bentonvill­e.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda ( Palmer) Shufelt; children, Scott Shufelt and wife Mindy of Bella Vista, Chrissi Crumpton and husband JC of Bentonvill­e; parents, Verl and Anita ( Harden) Shufelt of Edna, Kan.; sisters, Linda Hellwig of Chetopa, Kan., Debie Cornog of Columbus, Kan.; grandchild­ren, Dalton Shufelt, Jessica Heath, Hayley and Edan Crumpton; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Kaeley Morelock.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Bentonvill­e. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First Landmark, officiated by Pastor Terry Simmons Jr. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday in Elm Grove Cemetery in Edna, Kan.

ROGERS — Marjorie “Lou” Louise Sarnac, 85, of Rogers, died July 18 at her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Island, Ky., to William Roy Caraway and Irene Howard Caraway. She enjoyed helping others, was a faithful friend, a loving mother and grandmothe­r.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stephen Sarnac; the father of her children, Forest Epley; a son Danny Epley; a brother, William Caraway and two sisters, Wanda Smith and Lavanda McCubbins. Survivors are three sons, Gary Epley and wife Julie of Louisville, Ky., Rick Epley and wife Bobbi of Vinegrove, Ky., Mark Epley and wife Tina of Swanton, Ohio; two daughters, Karen Karnes and husband Jim of Shepherdsv­ille, Ky. and Bobbi Sainsbury and husband John of Pea Ridge; 15 grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren.

Lou wanted her life celebrated not mourned. A celebratio­n of life is set for 3 p.m. Friday, July 24 at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge. Cremation arrangemen­ts are by Sisco Funeral Home. Online condolence­s may be made at siscofuner­alhome.net.

SPRINGDALE — James R. “Jim” Garringer, 81, of Springdale, died Saturday, July 18, 2015. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.

SPRINGDALE — Hazel Jane Short, 82, of Springdale passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, She was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Kingston, Arkansas to Albin and Victoria Norris Rogers. Hazel worked at Four State Poultry. She graduated from Kingston High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elby Short and two sons, Stanley Short and Marlin Short and seven sisters, and one brother that died at birth. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and her caregivers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 10 a.m. Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Ark. 72762. SULPHUR SPRINGS — Jerry Don Douglas, 76, of Sulphur Springs died July 17, 2015, in Bentonvill­e. He was born April 17, 1939, in England, Arkansas to Glen and Carmel Douglas. Jerry served in the U. S . Air Force, and lived in Northwest Arkansas for 19 years after moving from San Jose, Calif. He enjoyed fishing and making things with wood. He was a carpenter for many years.

Preceded in death by: His parents and two sisters: Pat Pellino and Judy Hicks. Survived by: His love, Lani Jacob; daughter, Olivia Lacoe (Brian) of Pineville, Mo.; granddaugh­ter, Dani Lacoe of Pineville, Mo.; two brothers, Harold Douglas of Huntsville, Ark. and Larry Douglas of California; one sister, Shirley Douglas of California; Debbie Castillo (niece) of California; two sons, Raymond Douglas and Robert Douglas; and two daughters, Kerry Douglas and Kelly Douglas.
