Where sympathy lies

My great-great-grandfather, Henry Blueford Johnson, died while a prisoner of war in a federal prison. I mourn his lost life. But in spite of the hardships and loss endured by my Southern ancestors during the Civil War, my heart and sympathy remains with the African slaves and their descendants, who suffered so much more.
